đ Caleb Reedâs Queer Horror Guide: October 2025
What to stream for October 2025
October is the one time of year everyone pretends to love monsters. But queer people always have. Horror was never straightâits monsters, final girls, and outsiders have carried queer DNA for more than a century. This year, streaming platforms have turned October into a haunted house built for us. Hereâs your map.
đť Netflix
Monster: The Ed Gein Story â Ryan Murphy digs into the killer behind Psycho and Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Horror as history, queerness and monstrosity blurred.
Boots â A closeted gay teen enlists in the â90s military. No ghosts, no ghoulsâjust the horror of being seen.
Wayward â Mae Martinâs queer-tinged miniseries about secrets and violence in a small town.
Nobody Wants This, Season 2 â Queer romantic drama. Proof that intimacy can be just as frightening as a haunted house.
Interview with the Vampire (series) â Anne Riceâs homoerotic vampires, now fully out of the coffin. They go where I imagine Tom Cruise refusedâŚ.
𩸠Shudder (The Queer Horror Motherlode)
Queer for Fear (docuseries) â The definitive look at horrorâs queer roots.
Knife + Heart (2018) â Gay porn studio meets slasher playground. Pure queer camp.
Hellraiser (1987) â Clive Barkerâs puzzle box of desire and pain.
đŚ HBO (Max - or whatever they go by now)
True Detective: Night Country â Queer undertones in the leads, death in the ice. Worth watching just for Jodie Fosterâs performance.IT
IT: Welcome to Derry â Outsider kids, haunted town, Pennywise lurking.
𪌠Prime Video
Jenniferâs Body (2009) â Once maligned, now the sapphic cult classic of our age.
Bodies Bodies Bodies (2022) â Gen Z queer chaos with blood and comedy.
Saint Maud (2019) â Religious repression and obsession turned into gothic horror.
Bit (2020) â Lesbian vampires running wild in Los Angeles.
The Hunger (1983) â Bowie, Deneuve, and lesbian vampires wrapped in silk.
Seance â Boarding school slasher with queer characters at the center.
đ¸ď¸ Hulu / Disney+ Star
What We Do in the Shadows â Vampires who are all, frankly, very queer.
American Horror Story (archives) â Murphyâs eternal gay camp disguised as anthology horror. Stick to the earlier seasons, the later season are almost unwatchable. Coven is my favorite season. You canât beat Jessica Langeâs performance in this one.
đ§ Classics Worth the Hunt (Rent or Stream Where You Can)
A Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Freddyâs Revenge (1985) â The gayest slasher ever made. (On HBOMax)
Thelma (2017) â Queer love story tangled with supernatural power. (On Prime)
Let the Right One In (2008) â Tender vampire allegory about outsiders. (On Prime)
Good Manners (2017) â Brazilian queer werewolf gothic. (For rent on Prime or AppleTV)
đŽ Closing Note
Horror has always belonged to the queer imagination. The monsters were us in costume, the haunted houses our closets. The difference now? Streaming doesnât bother hiding it. This October, the haunted house is wide openâand itâs fabulous.

OMG, I have a draft of something similar to this! Luckily, the ones I watched aren't on this list, so that's perfect! Haha.
